Children want your presence, not presents

My readers, I think, would be correct in this observation. The reason that I specifically mention the "ban on work" during my promised time with my boys stems from my sons' often heard complaint that "all you do is work!"

In fact, stuck to the top of my computer screen in my office is a small verse of prose penned by my son Alexander. The lines read:

"My daddy is special because he works

My daddy always says he loves me!

My daddy's favourite thing to do is work

My daddy loves me because he cuddles me."

I read those lines every day and reminded myself of my promise and so last month I kept it.
